New Orleanian dances his way onto ‘Dancing with the Stars’

According to “Dancing with the Stars” press release, the stars, the drama, the glamour and the sexiness are back on ABC! Season 16 premieres on Monday, March 18 (7:00 p.m. CT) with a thrilling two-hour season premiere, then on Tuesday, March 26, with the premiere of Dancing with the Stars the Results Show (8:00 p.m., CT).
New Orleanians will have a special reason to tune in as native Orleanian Jacoby Jones puts aside his football cleats to don dancing shoes in his latest field of play.
The Abramson grad, who recently graced the cover of Sports Illustrated for matching an NFL record with a 108-yard kickoff return for a touchdown during the 2013 Super Bowl held here in New Orleans, joins Aly Raisman, Andy Dick, D. L. Hughley, Dorothy Hamill, Ingo Rademacher, Kellie Pickler, Lisa Vanderpump, Victor Ortiz, Wynonna Judd, and Zendaya to compete for the coveted Mirror Ball trophy.
Jones, a receiver with the Super Bowl Champions Baltimore Ravens, began his professional career after being drafted by the Houston Texans in 2009. He signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 2012.
In addition to matching an NFL record with an 108-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, Jones’ NFL highlights include being the first Raven to post multiple kickoff returns for a touchdown in one season, AFC Special Teams Player of the Week, AFC Special Teams Player of the Month, the Associated Press first-team All-Pro and the PFW/PFWA first team All-Pro.
The Lane College graduate got his start playing football with NORD. He played for Pontchartrain Park.
