Local radio broadcaster is living out her dream
Local radio broadcaster is living out her dream
Local broadcast news personality Monica Pierre is teaching us even in times of economic hardship, it still doesnt cost to dream. Beginning in December, Pierre will begin a month long tour of motivational speaking, called Dream Out Loud.

The media veteran is looking to inspire organizations, or civic or church groups, or individuals who can put together a small group of friends or associates. The idea is to help those in attendance recognize that dreams dont reach realization without attention and action. Pierre said.  We cant be passive when it comes to dreams.

Those interested should act quickly; as a way of giving back to the community, Pierre has decided to waive her speaking engagement fee.

Dream Out Loud will feature Pierres message of inspiration and encouragement. She explores the actions that need to be taken to move forward and begin the process of making a dream a definite reality. According to Pierre, three things are needed:  A dream wake-up call, An unfair fight with the number one dream enemy: fear, and The one-thing-a-day plan of action.

“The event ends with people actually dreaming out loud. Pierre told The Louisiana Weekly.

Another message Pierre intends to share is that there is hardly ever a perfect time to take a risk and pursue a passion.

“I hear the what if or if only lament so often, she said. There is no perfect time to do anything that is of importance or significance. It would be easy if the dream-doer could have clear signals or indication that this the perfect time, that all the money will be there, that all the right people or decision-makers will show up, or that our family and friends will line up and offer to help us. The truth is that we will have to focus, commit and fight for our hearts true desire to manifest. Just wishing wont cut it. Dream realization takes planning, dedication, persistence and action. We have to remember that this is our dream; this is our hearts desire. Yes, people may show up to help us or encourage us, but not having those things is no excuse for not moving forward on what we truly want.

In her speaking, Pierre tells how fortunate we are to live in a time in which resources and support are in abundance, waiting to be tapped into.

“We can get support and encouragement through books, DVDs, CDs, and the Internet, she told The Louisiana Weekly. We can participate in tele-seminars and webinars. We can sign up for newsletters, learn-at-your-own-pace home study programs. Its endless. We are part of a global community of dream-doers. Dont just limit yourself to people that you know. But keep in mind that you will have to be proactive. You cant hide behind the excuse that no one is supporting your dream.

Pierre challenges New Orleanians to take on the obstacles of the current recession and continue to attain personal and professional goals.

She also shares the inspirational story of her parents dream of owning their own home. I grew up the daughter of sharecroppers, said the Church Point, La., native, who is also the co-host of WWL first news on WWL-870AM.  When I was nine years old, my father announced that the run-down shack we were moving into would be the last house that his wife and five children would live in that he didnt own. It was not an easy or quickly-realized dream. We were sharecroppers. It took a lot of sacrifice on the part of my parents to hang onto the dream. In fact, it took 30 years for my family to save enough money, pay off the land, save enough money to build the house, and finally move in. In less than 10 years, my parents paid off the mortgage. They are my heroes. They remind us to never give up. I am so proud of what they have proven to the world.

Pierre began motivational speaking back in 1997 as part of Monicas Motivational Moments on WQUE. I wrote and shared with audiences 30 seconds of encouragement. She said.

The popular radio segment is also featured in her book, Found My Soul in a Sweet Potato Patch: Living a Life of Victory, which will be available for purchase on this months tour.

These days, Pierre wears many hats; along with being a motivator, author and radio personality, shes CEO of Pierre Principle Communications, a public relations and media consulting company.

“I truly believe that any dream is truly possible, Pierre said.  It must be your dream. It must be what you truly want. You have to commit to it and do something each and every day to make it happen. You have to expect that challenges will show up and make adjustments. You have to figure out what is blocking you from moving forward.
